This week, London’s Tate Modern opens up its new extension designed by Swiss architect firm Herzog & De Meuron. Amsterdam-based studio Uxus came on board to design a gift shop for the space.
The shop is divided into a specialist, generalist and children’s area. In order to accommodate the shifting nature of exhibitions, the spaces is filled with stackable furniture and modular shelves.
“Tate is a pioneering global institution that leads the way in the arts and now is breaking new ground with a retail experience at the crossroads of culture and commerce,” says Uxus. “The shop is designed as a permanently temporary space with the flexibility to respond to the gallery’s fast-changing exhibition and project schedule.”
