WORDS AND IMAGES Heather Moore
I went to Los Angeles for the first time in July this year, travelling with my husband Paul Edmunds to attend a pop-up event at the Heath Ceramics showroom on Beverly Boulevard.
I’ve been supplying Heath Ceramics with Skinny laMinx textiles ever since I started my business. Their operation has grown substantially (as has mine!), so this was a great opportunity to show my work in their LA store, and to meet people who’ve been Skinny laMinx fans for a while.
Paul and I really loved LA. We stayed in Venice Beach with the painter MB Boissonnault and her husband Evan. We loved the Venice lifestyle, which is all about dog walking, stopping for coffee on the achingly hip Abbot Kinney Boulevard, eating vegan food and drinking Tequila cocktails.
LA really looks like itself – by which I probably mean that I’ve watched too many American movies. But those tall, skinny palm trees, those signs from the 1950s, that clear light, all conspired to make us feel quite at home, even when driving on the wrong side of the road.
