The duo behind luxury accessories brand Missibaba found inspiration in Buenos Aires.
In late February, Missibaba founder Chloe Townsend and her partner Lizel Strydom spent 10 days in Buenos Aires, soaking up inspiration. The pair source the leather for their base colours locally, so when they head over to Buenos Aires for what has become an annual trip, they hunt for “all things glittering, gold, iridescent, holographic… basically anything that sets our hearts aflutter!” says Lizel. “A week-and-a-half may sound short, but time seemed to expand miraculously for us. Every day was a rich feast of stimulation,” adds Chloe.
The two stayed in an apartment on the border of Palermo and Recoleta, central and within walking distance of some brilliant shops, restaurants, parks and amazing architecture.
“The first piece [of the new collection] was dreamt up in the back of a taxi,” says Lizel: “It is the glorious Palermo – Our Backseat Bitch. The collection is still taking shape. We are feeling inspired to work on many mini outbursts of creativity this year. We are also working on some very exciting but top-secret collaborations. Watch this space!”
