Set in the storybook English countryside, you’ll find the elliptical 7 square-metre Escape Pod, designed by Jeremy Fitter and Dominic Ash of Podmakers Ltd.

The snug space, created to blend effortlessly with a natural environment, can serve as a tranquil getaway spot, studio, or garden office.

The pod sits on a raised platform half a metre from the ground and its structure is made from birch plywood, which is used for its natural strength. The exterior of the pod is covered in cedar shingles while the weather-resistant European oak has been shaped into windowsills and stairs. The door has been styled after an aircraft plug door and features an original wooden hinge mechanism.

The price of the Escape Pod starts at approximately R365 000.
