Smart Idea: Swinging cellar

It’s time to start a wine stash for the chilly seasons ahead. Turn a small collection of wine bottles into a talking point by storing them in a hanging cellar.

All you need

Plastic, cardboard, steel or even terracotta tubes are perfect for this design, as long as each tube is about 35cm long and no less than 9cm in diameter. Or choose longer tubes to accommodate two bottles, one at each end.

All you do

Make the insides of the tube non-slip for the wine bottles by smearing them with silicone bath sealant and letting it dry. Bind the tubes together – we used six – with a tow rope that has metal clips attached, and hang your cellar from the ceiling with a sturdy hook.
