If you take occupation of your newly built home only to find that the electricians have put in the most basic light fittings, don’t despair. You can turn them into design classics in a flash.
To update a cheap-looking light fitting, place a circular metal disc between the ceiling and the base of the light fitting. It will look fabulous and the disc will reflect the light more effectively, improving the light quality in the room.
Choose a 3 mm-thick metal disc that suits your decor style. Brass, copper and galvanised metal are all trending right now. We used a disc from 3D Metal Workx that is 30 cm in diameter with an 8 cm hole in the middle. Any metal workshop that
does laser-cutting can cut it for you, and the price will depend on your choice of metal.
