Skinny laMinx has launched a colourful new homeware collection – entitled Scandi Candy – which was inspired by the graphic shapes Heather Moore stitched into her needlepoint tapestries.
Having fun creating patterns has always been at the core of Heather Moore’s Skinny laMinx brand. She carves little rubber stamps from cheap erasers, and uses these to create endless variations on a pattern theme. “Creating patterns is a bit like cooking or baking – it’s about the quality of ingredients, & taking the time to combine them just right,“ says Heather.
For Scandi Candy, Heather had all the right ‘ingredients‘ laid out thanks to her slow-simmering hobby of stitching needlepoint. It was after almost a year of stitching a scattering of colourful graphic shapes that Heather became curious about what else these shapes had to offer. “When I spend so much time working on something, I either love it or I start to hate it. After a year of stitching, I loved the candy-like shapes in my needlepoint more than when I’d started. That’s how I knew it had to become a Skinny print,” she says.
Heather decided to turn her needlepoint patterns into rubber stamps, and filled a notebook with stamped patterns, experimenting with combinations, placement and colours. And just like that, Scandi Candy was created. “I made Scandi Candy in a few minutes on a sunny studio morning… after playing with the ingredients for years,“ explains Heather.
The new collection is is available in two colourways and is available as kitchenware, tableware, cushions, accessories and as upholstery fabric.
