A beautiful new showroom and a fresh addition to its offering entrenches Private Collections as a memorable decor destination.

Known for its hand-crafted furniture, reclaimed wooden doors and intriguing decor pieces, Private Collections has become a favourite haunt of those who love authentic pieces with a provenance. Now, the showroom has moved to a wonderful new location: the former Vredehoek Synagogue in Cape Town.

As owners Mitch Dolby and Danny Meyer explain, this move is both a privilege and an opportunity to showcase their contemporary furnishings alongside their traditional pieces. “We are able to utilise the exceptional talent at our disposal to make quality items by hand for the next generation,” Mitch says. “Children of our valued clients are now young professionals who seek contemporary pieces to complement our antiques.”

So, besides the wooden treasures sourced by Mitch and Danny on their travels and their collection of hand-made items in various metals, stone, wood, fabric and glass, Private Collections now also offers custom-made countertops and hand-made furniture inspired by iconic mid-century modern designs.
