If anything shouts “on trend right now!”, it’s plywood. The cheapie offcuts of the hardware industry are popping up everywhere from wall cladding and flatpack furniture to home accessories and more. Even bags are now succumbing to plywood’s charms.

These backpacks are the creation of Cape Town-based Inga Gubeka, whose company, Indalo Décor, also manufactures lamps and clocks. The bags have a cherry finish and are lined with shweshwe fabric. They’re available at the Neighbourgoods Market at Cape Town’s Old Biscuit Mill, and Mememe.
