4. Trendy Bendy
Managing editor Lise Avis is super impressed with this new creation. “This nifty invention is one of the most versatile things ever… Is it an armrest? Is it a cheese board? Is it a table? Is it an iPod stand? It is all of the above!”

5. Egon Tania Sculpture
“This sculpture by Egon Tania is one of my favourite public artworks,” says copy editor Kay-Ann van Rooyen. “The life-sized bronze man on a wood-and-steel bench is one of a series of six figures on Pier Place square on the Cape Town Foreshore. Complete with benches, cobbled paving and trees, it is a calm space just off Heerengracht where office workers, high-rise window cleaners and tourists sit over lunchtime to eat a Burger King Whopper or share a Mariam’s Kitchen Gatsby, or just pause to have a smoke. I often see people sitting next to this sculpture while other benches are empty, leaning against it, hanging a jacket over one of its arms, or even putting a hard-hat on its head while sitting there. It is shiny in places from the physical contact.”
