Food trucks have become the fast-food destination for the chichi set, but could Peugeot’s custom-made version offer a peek into the luxurious future of this worldwide phenomenon?
The French are well known for their sense of style and taste for luxury, and now that French car manufacturer Peugeot has focused its skills on the food truck phenomenon, it has created what is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful restaurants on wheels. Named Le Bistrot du Lion, the Transformer-cum-food-truck was debuted earlier this year during Milan Design Week 2015.
Created by the Peugeot Design Lab, it opens up into an amphitheatre-like space. It features a 46-inch screen where diners can watch their food being prepared, along with the accompanying soundtrack. The covetable mobile kitchen also sports grilling plates, burners, a deep fryer, 400-litre under-foot refrigerated compartment, 350-litre fridge and an espresso machine.
“Our goal is to appeal to all the senses – sight, taste, smell, hearing and touch – through the unique combination of modernity and harmony that only Peugeot can offer,” says design director Gilles Vidal.
We’re sold! The only thing that could make us love it more is if they could ship it down south and park it right in front of VISI HQ.
