Extending beyond Pedersen + Lennard’s first-ever all-timber Tulbagh Chair, the local furniture brand has created a family of complementary pieces that tell the same story of comfort, longevity, and heritage.
The new collection stemmed from Pedersen + Lennard‘s contemporary take on a Cape classic chair – which draws inspiration from country craftsmen in the Western Cape who, centuries ago, toiled to make practical, comfortable and durable furniture. “A client came to us with a request for an all-timber chair. It was something we’ve wanted to add to our offering for a long time, so this was a great opportunity. For inspiration, we paged through the Cape country furniture books that have been on the studio shelves for years,” says founders Luke Pedersen and James Lennard.
Their Tulbagh chair now finds itself in good company with the introduction of new solid wood tables and benches, free-standing shelves, bar chairs and stools, a coat stand, plus a first for the beloved brand – a sturdy and ergonomic doorstop.

All the pieces in the Tulbagh range echo the classic elements of the Tulbagh Chair with its rounded edges, gentle curves, leather riempies, robust frames, and deep joinery. | pedersenlennard.co.za
