Open Design Cape Town brings together creativity, education, design and community in a 12-day programme packed with inspiration, creation and discussion.

Architectural Open Studios
Architectural studios will be opening up shop just for you. Expect a showcase of their work, tools and career opportunities.
When: 5pm – 8pm on 17 August
Venue: Cape Institute for Architecture

Movie Sunday – Miss Representation
A screening of a thought-provoking film that casts the spotlight on the shocking truth behind the world of women in advertising and media and how the representation of them affects young women and society.
When: 10am – 12pm on 14 August
Where: Events Space, 2nd Floor, Cape Town City Hall
Cost: Free
Pecha Kucha
Translating to “chit-chat” in Japanese, Pecha Kucha is an energetic and inspirational evening of speakers that have seven minutes to inspire, challenge and educate you with twenty images that each display for twenty seconds.
When: 7pm – 9pm on 18 August
Where: Main Auditorium, Cape Town City Hall
Cost: R20 at the door
A “Surrealist Day” of Creative Play with Mara Feischer
Let your subconscious take control of your thinking, making and creative process in this innovative workshop for all ages. All you need to bring is the last thing you intended discarding.
When: 9am – 3pm on 18 August
Where: 2nd Floor, Harrington House
Cost: R50
Come Dine With Khayelitsha
An innovative platform that aims to close the gap created by spatial segregation between cities and townships by means of a conversational dinner environment, connecting people who would otherwise unlikely communicate and allow them to share experiences and ideas over traditional cuisine.
When: 6:30pm – 9:30pm on 19 August
Where: Meet at Central Library next to the City Hall, Darling Street for collection from 5:45pm – 6:10pm to be transported to venues around Khayelitsha.
