WORDS Mary Garner
Local furniture company Woodbender, who create modern wooden furniture using the ancient craft of woodbending, has released seven new designs.
Woodbender makes use of solid ash timber sourced from certified forests in North America to produce their collections, which includes the new Riga, Alta, Floro, Malmo, Oden, Oslo and Horton designs.
The Riga range consists of clean lines and simplistic silhouettes, while the Alta is a nod to classically styled, retro wooden furniture. The understated Floro collection is elegant and sophisticated and would work well in both homes and hotels. Malmo features a lower backrest and a tapered spindle leg design, with a touch of Nordic form and functionality.
The Oden pieces represent the pull towards more resilient fabrics, which are perfect for high traffic areas and homes with children or pets. The Oslo includes slightly quirky high-back tub chairs with simple and pared-back curved lines. The Horton collection has rounded legs, a thicker round-edge table top and large overhang, and is available as a dinette, dining table and coffee table.
