LINE is a ready-to-wear collection under designer label Jenevieve Lyons, featuring beautifully tailored pieces that bypass the fast-fashion niche and reflect minimalist architectural trends.
Set against the backdrop of National Geographic back issues, the collection touches on an African renaissance of sorts; taking inspiration from a 1980s landscape that is rich in culture and reflects the growth of African diaspora that is prevalent today. Not one to shy away from making a statement that reflects the current times, Jenevieve used the Mercedes-Benz Fashion week runway to make a strong debut of the collection, sharing a message of consciousness through fashion right down to her hand-picked selection of models.
Although LINE is a wearable extended label, the individual pieces are not a big departure from Jenevieve’s signature fluid, yet structural aesthetic. This collection introduces garments in a bolder colour palette: dirty oranges, deep reds and dark browns contrasted with the military greens and creams we’ve come to love from her previous ranges. The warm palette complements the collection’s depiction of a raw African landscape, a rich mix of luxurious womenswear and menswear in silhouette and style. With touches of traditionalism through the National Geographic imagery, as well as the articulation of the designs, the collection is a true reflection of nostalgia.
