Design Indaba Emerging Creative: Nina Bosch

WORDS Palesa Kgasane

For jewellery designer Nina Bosch, what started as a hobby soon turned into a career.

Following in the footsteps of her father and late grandmother, and working from her family-owned studio in White River, Mpumalanga, Nina has transformed her passion into something of beauty, making one-of a-kind porcelain jewellery pieces.

Her collections feature earth tones, interesting shapes and intricate details. The handcrafted jewellery designs are inspired by nature, in particular trees and leaves, which can be seen in the simple details. In a space where the fast pace of fashion can be overwhelming, Nina has found a balance between what’s aesthetically pleasing and what is best suited to preserving the environment – nothing must go to waste. A neutral palette with subtle 8-carat gold lustre accents characterises her collection, proving that minimalist-style jewellery can also make a bold statement.

Fashion lovers were able to view her latest collection at the SA Fashion Week pop-up shop last year and these pieces are readily available at Bosch Ceramic Art Studio or online at Hello Pretty.
