WORDS Lindi Brownell Meiring
In collaboration with the Josef and Anni Albers Foundation, which celebrates the life of German textile artist and printmaker Anni Albers, Christopher Farr Cloth has created two new prints.
Entitled Orchestra and Temple, the designs draw inspiration from Anni’s life and work. Orchestra is inspired by Anni’s childhood visits to the opera in 1920s Berlin, while the large-scale geometric pattern seen in the Temple range was influenced by panels that hung in a temple in Dallas in 1956. This design was created by painting and cutting up stripes, before combining the pieces and aligning them.
The collection, which is screen printed on pure Belgian Linen in London, is available locally at St Leger & Viney.
