Every year, colour specialists at the AkzoNobel Global Aesthetic Centre in the Netherlands create a variety of colour palettes, including the brand-new LOVE palette, which revolves around the Dulux Colour of the Year.
The Dulux Colour of the Year for 2019 is Crème Brulee, a subtle and purposeful hue that sets the tone for the four colourways featured in this year’s Dulux trend forecast.
“We are noticing a strong sense of awakening,” says Nathalie Sweeney, Decorative Paints Marketing Director Sub Sahara Africa for AkzoNobel. “ Crème Brulee is inspired by the varied tones and remarkable properties of honey – natural, timeless and enduring, protective, rejuvenating and healing. Our trend forecasters from around the globe have reported a growing appreciation of both the substance and the shade, having seen its use on the rise across fashion, architecture and design.”
The warm, rich and earthy LOVE palette, the latest to be released, features alongside three more palettes, namely THINK, DREAM and ACT, which form part of the 2019 Colour Futures.
“No colour lives in isolation, and neither do we,” says Dulux Colour Consultant Palesa Ramaisa. “The Dulux LOVE palette is about bringing people together in communal spaces where we work, live and play, and capturing that energy and vibe with the right colour combinations.”
The LOVE palette, which features nine complementary shades that work together with the Colour of the Year, is best suited for communal and shared spaces. “The earthy reds are stimulating and lively, and overall the rich hues imbue a sense of community being without overbearing,” says Palesa. “The outcome is a feeling of warm welcome and gentle hospitality.”
