Asprolithos Villa in Kythnos Highlights Greek Design

This quaint yet striking Asprolithos Villa highlights traditional Greek design, with soft and subtle features and views of the Aegean Sea.

Constructed by locally sourced stone, Asprolithos Villa – designed by Stella Papazoglou and Louisa Varelidi of Polisgram Architects – reflects the many facets of Greek design and architecture. The home was designed completely from scratch on an empty plot on the side of the mountain.

Situated in a classic greek landscape, the property boasts sea and mountain views with a surrounding brushwood terrain. The location played a vital role in the design of the space so that it would work in conjunction with the landscape.

Three Villa’s make up the property, all interconnected with outdoor communal areas. Each 40square meter space is divided into sections, with a raised living space and a recessed kitchen.

The main focus was placed on sea views, which are accessible from most points in the homes. Even though some spaces inside may be small, the exterior courtyards are perfect for al fresco dining and lounging on hot summer days. “Small spaces are very interesting and challenging, you can’t afford to waste space, every cm is important, we believe that everything is possible and nothing is too small as long as you take advantage of the opportunities each space provides,” the architects explain. | polisgram.gr
