Nervous System’s Computer-Generated Puzzles

WORDS Mary Garner

US design studio Nervous System creates complicated and visually appealing jigsaw puzzles.

The latest addition to the studio’s collection is the Geode range, made up of puzzles inspired by the colourful agate stone.

Unlike the stock standard jigsaws of your childhood, these “toys” may prove to be more demanding of your concentration.

Every puzzle is an original and is produced from a computer simulation with variations in shape, pieces and the overall image. The final product is made up of hundreds of plywood pieces that forms what looks like a slice of swirling rock.

The studio has manufactured two variations of the Geode jigsaws. The Geode puzzle has about 180 pieces while the bigger Orbicular has 370 pieces.
