January 2018 will see Maison&Objet honour Danish designer Cecilie Manz as the most outstanding name in industrial and interior design for the year.

As a child, Cecilie Manz would find her hands continuously itching to be submersed in the cool clay of her parents’ ceramic studio. After earning her diploma in object and furniture design from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, Cecilie moved to Finland to further her education in the art of making at Helsinki’s University of Art and Design. Upon graduation, she founded her own studio nestled in the hustle and bustle of Copenhagen.

Cecilie is a versatile creative who has designed a wide range of products over her 20-year career, from a ladder that doubles as a chair and couch throws to dining tables, portable speakers, mini bars and lamps.

Cecilie’s effort to strip her creations of any superfluous elements coupled with her ceaseless pursuit of uncluttered lines, pays homage to her love of warm minimalism. Her colour palette is something she develops in the infantile stages of her planning, as she believes it is imperative to asserting brand identity.

Cecilie will present her latest work at Maison&Objet in Paris in January 2018. The exhibition will feature both new and old products and will be displayed in a warm and homey atmosphere – the underlying theme that defines all of her creations.
