MADE Furniture in South Africa

WORDS Alma Viviers

The local launch of UK-based online furniture retailer MADE will put original furniture designs within the reach of budget-conscious buyers.

Furniture retailer MADE believes original furniture design should be accessible to everyone.

House It Africa, the company responsible for bringing MADE to our shores, has cut out the middleman by eliminating retail outlets and going online, thus reducing the number of markups put on products before they reach the consumer.

To introduce locals to the products, they have set up showrooms in Cape Town and Johannesburg where customers can test and touch products before making their purchases online. Products, which will be available online at houseitafrica.com, include a range of sofas, chairs, beds, table and decor accessories.

MADE works with hand-picked designers who create ranges characterised by a clever, clean-cut aesthetic. One such item is the Bramante extending dining table − one of brand manager Micharn Pollock’s favourites: “I love the flexibility of being able to have an intimate dining experience with a few friends or having a larger dinner party, both using the same table.”
