Luke Dale-Roberts’ Test Kitchen at the Saxon

WORDS Michaela Stehr

Joburgers are in for a culinary treat! The Test Kitchen is set to open a pop-up restaurant at The Saxon Hotel, Villas and Spa.

The team will be led by Five Hundred’s head chef Candice Philip, sous chef Wynand van Wyk and Test Kitchen chef Ryan Cole.

Luke Dale-Roberts is keen to bring the gourmet experience to Joburg, saying, “This unique opportunity at The Saxon is a launching pad for The Test Kitchen experience in Gauteng. I can’t wait to see how Joburgers react to The Test Kitchen style of food.”

The restaurant interior will reflect that of the original restaurant with centrepieces by ceramist John Bauer, as well as works by local brand Imiso. The restaurant will also feature art by Mark Rautenbach and Peter Eastman.

The pop-up restaurant is set to open on 21 January 2016 and will be running until the end of March 2016.

The seven-course tasting menu is priced at R1 330 (which includes two appetisers) or R2 100 with a wine or tea pairing.

The restaurant is open for dinner from Tuesday to Saturday. For reservations, email tablereservations@saxon.co.za or call 011 292 6000.

Visit saxon.co.za to view the menu.

UPDATE: From May 2016, the pop-up restaurant will become a permanent feature at The Saxon.
