WORDS Mary Garner
As you may have noticed, paper art is everywhere at the moment – and the work just seems to get more and more intricate, from Catfriendo and Pippa Dyrlaga to Yulia Brodskaya.
We recently spotted the creations of talented Japanese artist Kiri Ken whose extremely delicate works of art are created using sheets of paper.
An impressive aspect of Kiri’s technique is that she creates all of these pieces by hand, choosing not to make use of any laser cutting technology.
The method she uses includes drawing the image out by hand on the reverse side of the paper, before cutting it out using a scalpel. This intricate technique, which takes hours to complete, represents the artist’s fascination with wildlife.
