I’m done with winter. That’s not to say I don’t appreciate the chilly season. It’s a good time to hole up, think, make plans and wear boots … but it seems to have gone on a lot longer than usual this year, right? And I’m tired of lacing up bloody boots. The upside to watching the winter rain repeatedly lash our office windows in the north-wind-driven sheets that have become a new norm in this El Niño-meets-climate change weather pattern is that it’s provided the VISI crew with some time to reflect. And the result of all that contemplation is what you are holding in your hands right now. Or, at least, this is Part 1 of the plan.
To make VISI even more relevant and useful, we’ve shuffled some things around, and added a few more. We’ve moved the Stories section to the front of the magazine. Chunky and content-heavy, with a focus primarily on local design, it better reflects this magazine’s ethos of shining a bright light on our talented creatives. The Vision section, which casts its eyes to trends from the rest of the world, is now the meaty bookend to the mag. As for the new stuff, it’s content that revolves around the ever-growing desire to improve the interiors of our homes.
In this issue, we focus on the most cost-effective way to do that – paint. Nothing can transform an interior space like a new shade of paint, and so we bring you a 32-page Power of Paint section that has everything from the fundamentals of colour to DIY basics, and a colour masterclass from four interior design gurus. But, as I said, this is just Part 1 of the plan – wait until you see what we have in store for you in the next issue…
