A big congratulations to South African textile designer Ronél Jordaan, who was recently commended as one of the world’s 25 most outstanding woman entrepreneurs by Enterprising Women magazine based in the USA.
In November 2011, Ronél was contacted by international women’s organisation United Success and asked to submit an entry for the Enterprising Women of the Year Award. “I thought my chances were slim as it’s an international competition and there are many successful businesswomen out there,” says the humble Ronél.
But, along with 25 other businesswomen from around the globe, Ronél was honoured for her savvy business sense in the design trade. “I am surprised and honoured to be acknowledged for my business skills. I don’t think of myself as a businesswoman but rather as a designer who also manufactures,” she says.
The awards ceremony takes place on 13 March in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and although Ronél will not be attending, she says she will start paying more attention to Enterprising Women itself in the future.
