Indigenus is collaborating with local designers and architects to create planters that are works of beauty.
The use of planters as an interior and exterior design feature got a major boost when Peter van der Post launched Indigenus in 2014 with a collection of contemporary planters by three top South African designers. In 2015, he has added designs by two renowned architects to the curated collection, which was exhibited at 100 % Design South Africa and 100 % Design London.
“It’s becoming more and more important to find ways of bringing nature into our spaces,” says Peter, “yet the planter has long been overlooked as an item that can really elevate the aesthetic of an interior or exterior landscape and create a seamless transition between the two. I think this is why the architects and designers that have collaborated with us have been genuinely excited by the prospect of reimagining the planter.”
Made of materials such as iroko wood, cork and glass-reinforced concrete, the planters are designed to look beautiful indoors and engineered to withstand the elements.
