Fine furniture from Arketipo

Arketipo was introduced to the furniture world in 1982 by a group of clever Tuscan entrepreneurs. 27 years later and the company is still delivering top quality, vibrant and contemporary designs.

Their latest offerings have us reconsidering a dining-room makeover. These would be our top picks.

With a certain fifties look, the Lans sofa has simple lines and an austere style. We like the ethereal feel, with slender back and arms, together with the raised foot, adding the perfect hint of delicacy to the piece.

On the other hand, the Kelly sofa’s modern geometrical shapes and basic contemporary lines make for a couch that is not only pretty but also super comfortable. The simple lines of the Kelly perfectly conceal two independent mechanisms, one to adjust the back height and another to adjust the seat depth. Clever!

The design philosophy of the Lans sofa is also expressed in the adorable Madira armchair. Characterised by elegant shaped padding (think comfort, comfort, comfort), the Madira armchair has a retro style that whispers rather than shouts. Again, the slender back and arms and raised foot, make for a delicate and light item, suited to the home or the office.

The Kelly tables are a series of sofa-side and armrest tables with simple lines. A polyurethane top, made like a tray, is supported by a light metal structure. Best of all, the top can even be lifted up and moved about, just like a tray.

The Flex table is true to the style of Nendo, the Japanese designers who use shapes and destabilisation to create new, iconic articles. Like a piece of sculpture, the Flex’s twisted legs, in chromed metal, and transparent glass surface combine into an artistic and functional whole.
