Doing good through design

The Cape Quarter’s Design Now!, which kicked off last week, isn’t just about great design – it’s also set on giving back.

On the evening of the launch, members of the design community auctioned a selection of their furniture in aid of Rock Girl. This charity initiative will donate these funds to the Art Room at Manenberg’s Red River School, a beneficiary of the Cecile & Boyd’s Charity Foundation.

Some of the pieces that were auctioned include:

– The Collaboration Bench by Pierre Cronje and painted by Kirsten Eser of the Freeworld Design Centre

– Three unique chandeliers designed from the legs of Pierre Cronje chairs, made by Kobus of Hout Design

– A set of VIPP collector’s items from Victorian Bathrooms, including a stainless steel laundry bin and an    eight-litre pedal bin

– A bed throw from Private Collections

– A rug from Gonsenhausers Rugs

– An upholstered chair from Cecile & Boyd’s
