WORDS Tracy Greenwood
We here at VISI HQ were thrilled to discover the modern industrial furniture produced by District Eight Design.
From its premises overlooking the Saigon River in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, District Eight Design produces a furniture collection that is inspired by the Industrial Age but doffs its cap to its South-East Asian location, specifically the French colonial period.
The firm, which was established in 2010 with the aim of preserving and restoring historically significant buildings, has evolved to manufacture a range of furniture pieces for residential and commercial use. The focus is on traditional craftsmanship and the use of reclaimed materials wherever possible.
District Eight’s beautiful pieces are now exported to more than 20 countries, including South Africa, where they are available exclusively at La Grange Interiors.
