Carla Antoni, wife of leading Cape Town architect, Stefan Antoni, revealed the newest items in her designer gift range at their Fresnaye, Cape Town, home last night.
The range, which includes a domino set by artist Paul du Toit, espresso cups designed by Louise Gelderblom and a perspex cuff by Phillipa Green, is sold online and at Cape Town’s Mount Nelson Hotel.
Carla said the designer gift concept was born out of her architect husband’s need for something uniquely South African to give his affluent international clients.
“Drawing on the emerging and diverse talent in Africa as my inspiration, I approached artists, sculptors, designers and jewellers to give life to my vision of gifts that were not only beautifully crafted but also stylish and elegantly presented and packaged, while at the same time contributing to a worthy cause. This is how I captured the spirit of Africa.”
Other items in the range include Worcester glass artist David Reade’s colourful range of tea lights, as well as handmade perfumes from Tammy Frazer, daughter of the inventor of Oil of Olay, Graham Wulff.
A portion of all sales from The Carla Antoni Collection are donated to The Lunchbox Fund and The Rhino Security Project.
