Looking for an excuse to visit Decorex Joburg this year? Here’s ours: the brand-spanking-new Decorex Designer Collection, featuring lekker local designs, to be sold from an equally impressive pop-up shop.
The Decorex Designer Collection is a range of homeware items by nine of South Africa’s most-loved creatives, offering desirable, reasonably-priced design that can be bought on the spot. It’s been created in celebration of Decorex SA’s 18th anniversary.
A common thread runs through the eclectic collection: pared-down modern simplicity with a splash of whimsy. The natural, indigo, turquoise and grey colour palette is also bang on trend. Suppliers include:
– Wonkiware, Anthony Shapiro and Homebakes Ceramics, which all offer delicious crockery pieces, each in their own unique styles.
– Wood rightfully claims its place through Zander van Niekerk’s cake stands and candlesticks.
– The Laid Back Co serves up traditional oak cheese- and breadboards.
– The Design Team’s napkins, placemats and runners beg to be noticed in farmyard and star themes, while Skinny laMinx offers quirky aprons, mix-and-match napkins and tea towels.
– Ngwenya’s glassware promises fine-dining sophistication, while Lisa Firer’s fauna-inspired tea lights and vases will add to the mood with ambient lighting.
The Decorex Designer Collection will take a road trip to the brand’s decor exhibitions held in Cape Town and Durban, and the range will also be popping up at other locations throughout the country. Also on the cards is retailing through selected homeware and decor shops. But, for now, pop-up is where it’s at.
Pop-up or not, we reckon these products are going to pop right out of the exhibition faster than you can say “Decorex”.
Decorex Joburg takes place from 5- 9 August at the Gallagher Convention Centre, Midrand.
