After its 2022 relaunch, Decorex Cape Town is returning with a bang, providing the Mother City with the opportunity to explore the newest design concepts and advancements in home decor. 

Hosted by the City of Cape Town, and sponsored by Lexus, Plascon and Samsung, the show boasts over 200 premium brands, ensuring an all-encompassing experience that showcases curated exhibitions, cutting-edge designs and product launches. And that’s not all – Decorex Cape Town also features two state-of-the-art theatres, offering visitors even more interactivity and engagement.

Taking place from 22 to 25 June 2023 at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC), the show offers a multitude of compelling reasons why you don’t want to miss it.

Inspiring room designs

Each year the Decorex Africa team singles out an interior design firm whose work is worthy of acclaim. For 2023, Changing Spaces will be bringing its design vision to life in the Designer Spotlight at the show. Headed by Cheryl Herweg, and founded two decades ago, this studio creates contemporary spaces across the globe and has a presence in South Africa and the UK.

Discover the convenience of shopping for home decor right from the show floor at the Mr Price Home Shoppable Apartment. This space showcases the latest interior design trends, allowing you to easily incorporate them into your own home. If you find something you love, simply click and collect or have it delivered to your door.

Superbalist.com will have a physical presence at the show for the first time. Their exhibit features an apartment showcasing four different looks in one room. Each room has a dedicated QR code that directs shoppers to a curated basket of the showcased items, enabling one-click shopping for their favourites or the entire room. This unique exhibit blurs the boundaries between online and offline shopping, providing inspiration for functional and enjoyable living.

Superbalist.com and Plascon, are also set to join forces to transform the walls of One Room, Four Looks. By showcasing different paint colour choices, they will demonstrate how you can easily makeover a room.

LIM, Establishment, House of Kook, and flooring company Lalegno will present a collection of contemporary Roomsets. These displays will highlight their unique style, catalogs, and comprehensive interior design services.

Kitchen confidential

Experience the vibrant Samsung Bespoke Cooking Theatre, where local chefs will captivate the audience with live demonstrations of their favourite dishes. You’ll be able to immerse yourself in the culinary realm as these kitchen experts share their expertise and valuable cooking tips. The talented chefs will showcase their skills using cutting-edge Samsung appliances, including the innovative Bespoke 4-DoorFlex refrigerator. With customisable colours and finishes, this refrigerator allows you to integrate multiple modules from different models, creating personalised fridge/freezer combinations.

For 2023, the much-awaited annual Kitchen Design Project will be realised by trade professionals under the banner of the Kitchen Specialists Association (KSA) of South Africa – everything and the kitchen sink!

Make a beeline for Blum, where top-of-the-range fittings and motion technology for the kitchen take a new turn thanks to a magnificent world-class show stand that was unveiled at the EuroCucina fair in Milan before travelling to Decorex Cape Town.

Serious sustainability

Decorex Cape Town is leading the way in the industry by introducing a groundbreaking initiative: the option to offset carbon emissions for environmentally conscious individuals. When purchasing Decorex Cape Town tickets in advance or at the door, attendees can now choose to contribute R5 to CURBON and reduce their carbon footprint. Join Decorex Cape Town in their mission to promote sustainability and make a positive impact on the world.

The invitation for designers to submit chairs created with sustainable design principles for display in the central restaurant area of Decorex Cape Town garnered an incredible response. Prepare to be amazed by the stunning creations on exhibit, featuring contributions from esteemed local designers such as Andrea Kleinloog of Hesse Kleinloog, Jon Case of ARRCC, Matthew Dasneves, Sanri Pienaar, Rupert Green, Hannerie Visser, Joe Paine, Bofred, and more.

In addition to these expected masterpieces, be on the lookout for out-of-the-box surprises from innovative designers such as milliner Crystal Birch. With such a diverse range of talented designers showcasing their creations, there’s something for everyone.

Future of Design

Comprising a talks theatre and an exhibition area, the Future of Design is a captivating blend of physical and digital displays, collaborative workshops, live demonstrations and presentations by thought leaders. 

Petals with an edge

Lexus, the prestigious Japanese automotive brand, will enchant visitors with a captivating Cherry Blossom installation, showcasing their proud sponsorship of this year’s event. Furthermore, VIP guests will enjoy the luxury of being chauffeured to and from the CTICC in the newest Lexus vehicles.

Sexy slabs

Following their successful collaboration with global brand Tom Dixon at the Milan Furniture Fair, prominent Spanish surfacing brand Cosentino is set to continue their partnership with renowned designers to showcase their exceptional surfaces. At Decorex Cape Town, esteemed local furniture designer Haldane Martin will team up with Cosentino to create an exciting stand concept that highlights Haldane’s exceptional utilisation of Cosentino products in his contemporary collections.

Sexy surfacing solutions enrobe the Surface Bar by Studio Masson. It’s a stylish spot to grab a drink while getting tactile with beautiful slabs and tiles for bathrooms, kitchens and floors.

Digital first

USURPA, an innovative meta-gallery founded by renowned photographer Steve Tanchel and cultural influencer Kay Kay Ribane, shines a spotlight on the art of NFTs and NFT art. This avant-garde gallery brings its digital expertise to the Mother City, and will offer a captivating experience at Decorex Cape Town. Discover the fascinating fusion of live digital art and Samsung technology while engaging with talented USURPA artists at their stand near the entrance of the show.

The power of the collective

Experience the much-anticipated debut of Lemon, a design studio that offers a diverse collection of decorative and substantial foundational pieces, at Decorex Cape Town. Lemon is driven by a team of exceptional designers including co-owner Kevin Frankental, acclaimed interior designer Yaniv Chen, award-winning French architect and product designer Léonard Kadid (recipient of the FD100 Awards 2022), and Cape Town-based fine artist Jade Paton. With their combined expertise, Lemon adds a thrilling and distinctive dimension to the exhibitor lineup.

A group exhibition mounted by the Craft + Design Institute (CDI) will showcase export-ready contemporary craft. Dubbed NEXT2023, the exhibition is curated by the CDI’s Market Development Programme Manager Fran Stewart. The 24 participants include the likes of Thabo Makhetha, A Love Supreme, Champel, Head On Design, Minima, Unique Driftwood Creations, Modern Gesture, Woza Moya, Knot Again and Lulasclan.

Raise a toast

Prepare to be enchanted by the captivating design concept crafted by the talented return exhibitors, Happinest, for the central Bubbly Bar. This mesmerizing concept guarantees to dazzle and delight visitors. The Bubbly Bar boasts sparkling neon lights that illuminate the space, transforming it into a radiant beacon of happiness. With its warm and inviting atmosphere, it is sure to attract guests and create a truly unforgettable experience.

Macro trends in focus

One of South Africa’s leading trend authorities Bielle Bellingham will present a Macro and Interior Design Insights Report. A ticket for this insightful CPD-accredited trend briefing also gives you access to the show itself, and the report will be followed by light refreshments and a guided tour. Afterwards, you are welcome to explore further at your leisure.
