A collaboration between designer Bonolo Helen Chepape and MRP Home reflects her signature style of bold motifs and colours.
In its first collaboration for 2018 with a local designer, MRP Home teamed up with 26-year-old designer Bonolo Helen Chepape, founder of homeware brand LulasClan.
This ongoing Colab initiative, which sees MRP Home’s design team working with local designers to create one-off product ranges, offers a platform for South African talent and makes good local design more attainable.
“I believe our homes should tell our stories, be a reflection of where we come from and be a reference to where we are going,” says Bonolo. It is this philosophy, as well as her Pedi background, her love of colour and popular culture that inspired the collection. “I wanted it to celebrate colourful women and reflect a story telling journey,” she says.
The range includes winter blankets, a duvet cover, scatter cushions and stationery. Bonolo doesn’t have a favourite, but admits to a fondness for scatter cushions. “It’s a range that is fun and playful; it suggests that our homes should be welcoming and have a spirit of laughter and joy,” she says.
The Colab collection is available online and at selected MRP Home shops, for as long as stocks last.
