Embrace a style that references yesteryear in a cool and clean fashion.
During the pandemic, we all wanted our homes to feel comforting and familiar. Now, as we emerge from the madness, we’re still riffing on a version of the theme – a leaning towards classics rebooted. To get the look, consider fresh products that pay homage to their predecessors: modest but modern Shaker-inspired wooden pieces, cutlery in simplified versions of old styles, and wallpapers that give a nod to traditional patterns all work a charm. And don’t forget the fun – or the plaids, for that matter. American fashion designer Thom Browne’s latest collection sums this up perfectly: it is a full-on ode to trendy tartans, with every inch of both clothing and campaign images drenched in the pattern. It’s a zany, bold and seriously desirable take on the traditional – and we say, “Check, please!”
