Casa BY in São Paulo

Situated in Morumbi, a neighbourhood of São Paulo, this three-storey townhouse named Casa BY received a remodelling by Marilia Pellegrini to make it spacious, comfortable and family-friendly.

The home consists of a basement, a garage, office, laundry, living area, bathrooms, kitchen, three bedrooms and two balconies. The hub of the home centres around the living area, boasting an indoor/outdoor flow with large glass doors to let natural light flood the apartment. “In the living room, a large television cabinet was designed to store all the crockery that was completely imperceptible with a minimalist language embracing the existing windows,” explains Marilia Pellegrini. “The hollow and illuminated metal bookcase was also designed to separate the vertical circulation of the living room, maintaining transparency and luminosity.”

Casa BY

Originally rather hostile and cold, the new concept for Casa BY was to create a space that offers a welcoming, bright and green environment that is juxtaposed with the urban views outside.

A neutral colour palette of white and grey tones was chosen to allow colours to feature through furniture, artwork and the green of the vegetation. A statement table in organic wood adds warmth to the environment. Also noteworthy are the black Vitra armchairs and the FJN wooden benches from the architect’s collection for Mais55design.
