Barclays Africa’s new Digital Development Office, designed by dhk thinkspace, is situated in the well-known Longkloof Studios in the heart of Cape Town.

The space, which is designed to accommodate 60 permanent developers, exudes a sense of playfulness, creativity and innovation. Flexibility was key, so dhk thinkspace developed an adaptable space, which can change depending on project requirements.

There are no personalised desks or workstations, supporting mobility and integration within the office space. Impromptu brainstorming sessions are also encouraged, with employees being able to write on most of the surfaces within the office.

Inspiration for the interior came from the building’s exterior facade and dhk thinkspace kept all of the heritage building’s finishes and fittings. Exposed brickwork, restored timber and steel set the tone for the space.
