We take a peek inside Resort – a lavish, holiday-inspired interior and lifestyle shop in the De Waterkant precinct. Owner Danela Conti tells us more about her gorgeous space.

Please describe ‘Resort’ for us.

Resort is an interior and lifestyle brand that focuses on resort living, which is all about a glamorous holiday mood everyday of the year. Our aim is bring the feeling of an exotic location and the freedom of anonymity, when on holiday, home!

How long have you been in this space?

Almost 3 years.

What makes your space ‘real’?

Our space is very grounded in its Cape Town roots, being in the De Waterkant precinct. The interior has been done to evoke ageless elegance with a definite nostalgic reference to an old French or Italian building. It is always a surprise when you walk past a run down building in the south of France or on the Amalfi coast, and then when you walk in the charm continues but with functionality!

Is there an underlying décor theme, or does the look evolve according your whims?

The decor look of resort is all about comfort that functions as grand aesthetics. We love over-scaling furniture, we love nostalgic holiday stripes, we love silhouettes of the 1960’s. If we were to give our brand a mood, more than a look, it would be to capture the feeling felt when you check into an amazing hotel or resort, and the excitement of luxury and holiday, the smell of the foyer filled with lily’s, the sumptuous looking lounge areas, and tables that glisten with marble, silver and glass ware, that awaits!

If you could add just one edition to your shop, what would it be?

A shop window where I could merchandise this mood to the walkers by on Jarvis street!

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

I am compelled to say Cape Town, as I have lived in other places, and like most others that do, I came home!

If your shop was on fire and you had 30 seconds to escape, which item would you save?

Nothing! I have wonderful imagery saved already, and the insurance payout would mean I could create another version… how cool would that be!!

Describe your dream home in a sentence.

The luxury of space for everything, laced with breathtaking polished finishes, sumptuously practical furniture for my family, sea views, and a rolling lawn.
