Knock on wood

Italy-based designers Matteo Thun and Antonio Rodriguez drew on Japanese bathing culture to create the Ofuro bathtub in water-resistant, sustainable larchwood. Their sophisticated bathroom system, One: Il Bagno Che Non C’è, which hides the washbasin, toilet and shower tray under a minimal larchwood structure reminiscent of a sauna, is also well worth a look. www.rapsel.it

Award-winning Japanese design company Nendo created the latest bathroom furniture collection for Bisazza Bagno, the first time this Italian brand has introduced the use of wood. Nendo wanted to create the impression that the entire bathroom had been unpacked from the crate-like bath. Signature clean, minimalist lines are balanced by the warmth of the larchwood, creating a serene, spa-like bathroom. www.bisazzabagno.com
