African print bowls by Wola Nani

Wola Nani’s new collection of boldly coloured papier-mâché bowls, created specifically for the Indalo Project, has us swooning.

Taking its cue from the vibrant print fabrics from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, designers Nicci Drzewicki and Mirelle van Reenen’s African Print collection lends a new level of sophistication to Wola Nani’s existing range.

Like all Wola Nani products, this collection of bowls is made mainly from recycled materials such as magazine paper.

The bowls are available in colour variations on five unique designs – Eyes, Shields, Arrows, Pineapples and Circles – and a wide range of sizes, with prices ranging from R47.88 to R120.84 per bowl.

Wola Nani is the isiXhosa phrase for “we embrace and develop one another”. This non-profit organisation was established by Gary Lamont in 1994 to empower individuals and communities affected by the local HIV/Aids pandemic.

Some of their other products include barrel lampshades, tealight candle holders, decorated mirrors, beaded jewellery, dustbins and picture frames.
