Good news for creative minds who would like to see social change on the streets of Johannesburg: the Your Street Challenge, which started in Cape Town. has made its way to the City of Gold.
After an overwhelming response to the Cape Town edition, Design Indaba in partnership with the Gauteng Tourism Authority, announced on Tuesday that the challenge is now open to Joburg residents and designers alike.
This exciting competition – with R250,000 in prize money – challenges locals to put on their thinking caps and propose creative ways to make a difference in transforming their immediate surroundings for the better.
“We see the Your Street Gauteng Challenge as a unique platform for encouraging the use of design and creativity to further enhance the urban experience. It’s great to be partnering with the Gauteng Tourism Authority and we’re looking forward to inspired ideas,” says Design Indaba founder Ravi Naidoo.
The competition is open to anyone with a bright idea. Simply submit your inspired idea for effecting positive change in your area along with your vision on how this will be implemented and you could walk away with your share of R250,0000 plus change your city for the better.
The competition closes on 15 October 2011.
