WORDS Claire Jowell
For those of you who, like us, missed out on Maison et Objet this year, here’s a 1:40 second version of the four day event. Unfortunately it’s in the sexy language of French, but the visuals really say it all. The major biannual French trade fair for interior design boasted some very stylish, cutting-edge designs – we wouldn’t expect anything less from Paris.
The theme for this January’s fair was “vivant”. Explained as: “Our dematerialised, virtual world is searching for a harmonious lifestyle that is more anchored in reality. A new vitality is perfecting the riches of nature. Design is recomposing a bio-inspired world.”
So the trends for the coming year are pointing towards natural, clean-cut textures and shapes, but this definitely does not mean luxury and glamour will be sacrificed.
PS See that cross-stitch in the preview image? It’s by Charlotte Lancelot, who we featured in VISI 62, and was one of the inspirations for our DIY Deluxe cross-stitch cover.
