Caeserstone Design Award 2011

Caeserstone is asking interior design and architecture students to design a space which reflects “the range of what our lives are about” for the 2011 Caeserstone Design Awards, which boasts a prize worth R50 000.

The 2011 brief was conceptualised by Janina Masojada of DesignWorkShop:SA. Caesarstone’s design brief for the 2011 Award is to conceptualise a single space of mixed use and multi-functionality; a place to sleep, eat, live, work and ultimately express our souls.

The design proposal is to reflect a limited palette of materials in both external form and enclosure and in the internal fixtures and fittings. As always, the prize for the winning student and lecturer is a comprehensive five-day trip to Caesarea, Israel – the home of Caesarstone – valued at R50 000.

The judges who will choose the winning design are Jonathan Anstey of Stauch Vorster Architects, Darren Bester of It Is Design, Janina Masojada of DesignWorkShop:SA, Sonja Petrus Spamer of SPS Architects and Lisa Younger of Activate Architects.

To enhance design education, iRender, who “Inject Information Technology into the business of Architecture and Interior Design” have partnered with Caesarstone as a contributor towards the 4th Caesarstone Design Award. iRender will offer free access to a range of their products for participating students. Students participating in the competition are encouraged to sign up with iRender and enjoy student educational licenses for Artlantis Studio 3 from Abvent, free of charge. Artlantis are the creators of the Artlantis Rendering Application and SketchUp Pro 8 from Google which assists students in creating models for rendering in Artlantis.

As part of the prize package, the winning student will receive SketchUp Pro 8, Artlantis Studio 3, additional Artlantis media and a Space Navigator 3D Mouse all valued at R20 000.
