From time to time

During our visit to the Saatchi Gallery, I was awestruck by a masterful piece called the Clock Clock, which formed part of the Connectors exhibition at the Phillips de Pury & Company Gallery venue.

According to the exhibition guide, Connectors are designers who, using a visual vocabulary, can infuse even the most functional objects with emotion: a task beautifully executed by Swedish artists Bastian Bischoff and Per Emanuelsson, whose Clock Clock is comprised of 24 analogue clocks stacked in such a way that the moving hands hands align to display the time digitally.

Working under the collective name of Humans Since 1982 (their shared birth year), it took them 18 months to develop analogue-to-digital language that the piece employs. While this in itself is quite an amazing feat, the choreography that takes place between the minutes is what really blows your mind.
