Gosenhausers Fine Rugs is breathing new life into vintage carpets from the Middle East, while they’re also affirming the patchwork trend that’s currently hot news worldwide.
For their newly launched Reloaded Collection, Gosenhausers salvage unused vintage carpets from Iran and Afghanistan. These carpets are put through an organic process that strips them back to their original state. Through an over-dying process, the carpets are subsequently injected with bursts of bright colour.
Their Semi-Antique Patchwork rugs, on the other hand, combine blocks from overdyed, handwoven Persian carpets. VISI loves the fact that these rugs are reminiscent of quilts, hinting at the trend for nostalgic, patchwork design that’s making waves around the globe. The carpets are made of 100% wool.
The Semi-Antique Patchworks retail from R2,800 per square metre, while the Reloaded carpets retail from R18,500 each.
