Homeware brand Fyn & Bos celebrates the diversity and beauty of fynbos.
The name “Fyn & Bos” deliberately sets out to encompass the sophisticated and refined (“fyn”), and the wild and eclectic (“bos”). The duo behind the brand, Sharné and Matthew Thorpe, are based on the Garden Route – Sharné is the photographer and creative director, and Matthew is responsible for strategy.
The Thorpes are committed to plant conservation. “We serve on the committee of the Midbrak Conservancy, which is special because it contains four biomes in one area: fynbos, coastal thicket, dune and wetland,” says Matthew. “We try to raise awareness to preserve what little natural plantlife is left in the area, and showcase as many of the more than 9 000 species of fynbos we can so the world can see fynbos is not just the king protea.”
The range comprises scatter cushions, curtains, textiles, wallpaper, ottomans and chairs, with the wooden components manufactured by furniture designer Meyer Von Wielligh – all are for sale online.
