Vera van Wolferen’s Mini Mobile Homes

WORDS Mary Garner

These charming miniature mobile home sculptures, made of balsa wood, are the new work of Dutch artist Vera van Wolferen.

The picturesque models are referred to as “Story Objects” by the artist and, as the name suggests, each tells a story. The mini models sit atop tiny sedans or have little wheels to make them mobile. Some of the houses are designed with the addition of bits of cotton wool applied to look like idyllic clouds or cosy chimney smoke.

The rest of the mini mobile homes are kept to a minimalist style as the designer focuses on the architecture of the object rather than an intricate or fussy colour scheme.
