This March, The Gathere in Kramerville plays host to a collaboration of creatives inspired by Johannesburg. Hosted by Ants, the collaboration features Fabrica, Henriette Botha and They’re Wonted.
Owned by Guiyani Monteiro, Ants is an international platform for the expression and sharing of culture, art, design and all things creative. The mantra of Ants is ‘We Find. We Gather. We Share’ and they do just that by discovering goods and experiences and bringing them back to share with creative communities.
Fabrica was started by Kristen Townsend, a graphic designer that creates rugs called Citymapmats that are inspired by the road maps of urban areas in both Cape Town and Johannesburg. The rugs are 100% wool and hand tufted. Kirsten chose to work through a company that trains local people in the necessary skills. She also worked closely with India-based weavers.
Henriette Botha‘s Golden Arc Collection provides a fresh take on past collections and speaks to the geometry and city inspirations found in Fabrica’s Citymapmats. Colours chosen for the semi-precious gems and metals used in the jewellery pieces are also directly expressive of Joburg’s palette; Lapis Lazuli expresses the clear blue skies, while Green Agate mirrors the concrete jungle and Amber reveals the golden riches from which the city rose.
Started by Jessica, Dillon and Daniella just a year ago, They’re Wonted is all about content creation, blogging and creating an engaging online brand story. They’re Wonted weaves the all-important thread of content and photography through this creative collaboration.
Fabrica’s Citymapmats, Henriette Botha’s jewellery and content creation and photography by They’re Wonted will launch at the end of March.
