Functional Design: RhinoLite EasyFill Crack Filler

WORDS Tracy Greenwood VIDEO Suzelle DIY via Youtube

Tasked with launching building materials giant Saint Gobain’s Gyproc RhinoLite EasyFill Crack Filler into a competitive market, Gavin Rooke, owner of marketing agency The New Order, came up with a versatile multi-tool that doubles as a user-friendly package seal.

We asked Gavin, a champion of design-led marketing, about the creative process.

What prompted you to design the multi-tool?

We wanted to solve the problem of existing crack filler packs that tear open, create waste, are difficult to use and require additional tools to fill
a simple crack. We also wanted to ensure our client had a unique benefit to offer consumers.

What makes the multi-tool special compared to others on the market?

It renders the need for additional tools redundant, specifically scrapers and sand paper, and doubles up as a package-sealing clip for open packs of crack filler.

Is it easy to apply?

Yes. You simply scoop it, scrape it, sand it and seal it, all done using the RhinoLite EasyFill Multi-tool.

Is the multi-tool your first foray into functional design?

The New Order has designed a number of products and functional interfaces. We designed Porsche wheels for a business called Dutchmann that are a contemporary reinterpretation of the classic Porsche Fuchs wheel found on the early Porsche 911s. They are milled from aluminium locally, and exported globally.
