Caesarstone has compiled a list of 9 kitchen design trends to look out for in 2015.
1. The kitchen as an entertainment area: This year’s kitchens will be designed primarily around the idea of entertaining family and friends.
2. Transitional style: With homeowners shifting back towards cosy, homey spaces, kitchens will no longer focus on minimalism.
3. Clever storage space: From drawer organisers to pull-out pantries and corner cabinet shelving, designers will constantly improve the ergonomics of the kitchen.
4. Patterns and geometrics: Honeycomb, hexagons and repetitive and retro-inspired motifs are seen in global kitchens. We’ll see this trend making its way to South Africa too.
5. LED Lighting: This energy-saving and eco-friendly lighting option has come to the forefront of kitchen lighting design.
6. Trending materials: Textures are becoming more popular in the kitchen. Cold clinical materials are no longer the primary choice for counters and surfaces.
7. Natural neutrals: Black, white and grey are still popular, especially when contrasted.
8. Furniture-style kitchen cabinetry: Farmhouse kitchen sinks and old-world designs are still a kitchen trend, although it’s predicted this will take a back-seat in the near future.
9. Antique looks: Stone countertops and traditional features, edges and handles remain on trend.
